Illus. Sir William Myron "Bill" Campbell, Jr., PP, 72, of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
He was born September 26, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to William Mryon Campbell and Clara Bernice Kirkpatrick Campbell.
Bill was a 1964 graduate of Garfield High School. He served in the United States Army Reserve and was deployed to active duty and stationed in Alaska. During his service in Alaska, he developed what would be a lifelong interest in Alaska and gold mining. Bill was able to return to Alaska in 2014.
He graduated from Indiana State University in 1978 and began teaching at West Vigo High School in 1982. He taught there until his retirement in 2010, serving as the West Vigo High School teacher and Vocational Department chairman. Bill had a major influence on his many students, including being famous for winning the canned food drives. He was responsible for creating the RATPACK at West Vigo. Some of Bill's other interests included NASCAR, hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting. Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge F & AM, Social Lodge #86, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine, serving as Potentate in 1992, and Royal Order of Jesters Court #45, currently serving as impresario.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marilyn Jane Law Campbell, who he married January 27, 1968, in Oxford, Indiana; his daughter, Lynette Lee Campbell Hubbuch (Christopher); his siblings, Sharon Lee Ruddock, Myra Gayle Shew (Loren Ray) and Michael Andrew Campbell; his grandchildren, Lauren Lee Hubbuch and Christopher Andrew Campbell Hubbuch; his nieces and nephews, Donna Adams, Thomas Ruddock, John Ruddock, Rayetta Ferguson, Michael Shew, Daniel Shew, Julie Doane and Jessica Doane; and his brother and sister-in-law, Howard and June Boor.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Elsa Alberta Doane and Mark Daniel Campbell; and his brothers-in-law, George Thomas Ruddock and Charles Herschel Doane.
Services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 11 a.m., at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd Street, West Terre Haute, Indiana. Pastor Bob Roush will be officiating. Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2019. from 4 to 7 p.m. and again Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Masonic services will be performed by F & AM, Social Lodge #86 at 7 p.m. on Friday.
