Illus. Sir Rodney Carl Jordan, PP, age 79, of Bridgeport, Michigan, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the Cartwright Care Residence. Age 79 years. The son of the late Carl and Mildred (Todd) Jordan was born June 3, 1936 on a farm in Woodland, Michigan, where he raised Belgian Draft Horses with his father and farmed with his family. He graduated from Woodland High School, attended Michigan State University and received his Bachelor's Degree from Lansing Community College. He married Beverly Tasker, March 14, 1974. His wife of 42 years survives him.
Rodney was employed by the State of Michigan, Department of Agriculture, working in Lansing, Detroit, Saginaw and the Upper Peninsula, retiring with 28 years of service. He was again employed for the State of Michigan as Supervisor of the Michigan State Fair for 13 years. He was an active member of Bridgeport Community Church for 42 years. He was a Life member of the Bridgeport Masonic Lodge # 258 F. & A.M. where he served as a 5 time Master, he was named lodge Mason of the Year and named District Mason of the Year in 2011. He was a Life member of the Elf Khurafeh Shrine where he served as Potentate in 1997. He was a Life member of the Royal Order of Jesters, Court 74. Throughout his life, Rodney, raised and sold Belgian draft horses, he also built large Budweiser wagons for a hobby. His large family gave him many pleasures.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly, and one son, four daughters and their spouses, Robert Jordan, Lake Odessa, MI; Kathy and Mark Bitney, Grand Ledge, MI; Linda and Jerry Valentine, Saginaw, MI; Cathy and Don Stadler, Mayville, MI; Connie Schnell and Mark Tanner both of Saginaw, MI; his grandchildren, Stephanie and Ryan Pollum; Stacie and Sean Slumka; Travis Bitney; Ashley Valentine; Eric Wood and Kim Pattee; Katelyn Bitney; his great grandchildren, Tucker, Hailey; Kya and Kaiden; his sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Herb Hesterly; several nieces and nephews. A son, Randy Kuhn, has predeceased him.
The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Bridgeport Community Church, 3821 State St. Bridgeport, MI. Rev. Ronald Sinclair will officiate with burial in Pinegrove Cemetery. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Hwy from 2:00-9:00 p.m. Friday and then at the Church from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of the funeral service. The Bridgeport Lodge # 258 F. & A.M. and the Elf Khurafeh Shrine will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Friday. Masonic Lodge
Brother Rodney C. Jordan was raised a Master Mason May 21, 1958 in Woodland Lodge #304. He served Bridgeport #258 as Master in 1984-5 and 2010-2013, and was presently Chaplain of #258. Rod was District Mason of the Year in 2011.
Scottish Rite
Brother Rod received the 32nd Degree at Bay City Scottish Rite May 4th, 1977.
He was a long time member of the 20th Degree Team, received the Silver Membership Award in 1997, he was an extra on Scottish Rite Masonic Degree Teams in 2002.
Shrine
Noble Jordan was created a Noble of Elf Khurafeh Shrine May 11th, 1977. Rod served our Shrine as Potentate in 1997, and was A Life Permanent Contributing Member. Some of the Clubs he belonged to are; Circus Park Shrine Club, Oasis Shrine Club, Hillbilly Clan #55, Circus Committee Member and current Vice-President of the Trustees. Rod was a Life member of Royal Order of Jesters, Court #74 and was serving as President of Jesters of Ontario Michigan. P.P. Jordan was a very active Shriner and will be greatly missed by Elf Khurafeh Shrine.
