Illus. Sir Harold "Hal" Haering, PP, Brother Hal was born on July 14th, 1926 in Center Line Michigan. Hal attended Wayne State University and played football of the team. Hal Haering will best be remembered as... Illustrious Sir, Hal Haering, past Potentate of Moslem Shriners for the year 1983. Prior to serving as Potentate, Hal was a member of Moslem's Highlanders. One of Hal's dearest friends, namely Herb Campbell would try to teach Hal how to play the bagpipes. The two of them would practice in a parking lot and on more than one occasion people would stop to watch and listen. The marching part was Hal's downfall however, so if you see any old pictures of the Highlanders on parade, you'll find Hal Haering somewhere in the middle. The Shrine Circus was one thing that Hal Haering jumped into with both feet. Serving as Circus Chairman in 1982 and working in the hot dog stand for years before that. While Hal was on the Divan he went on countless trips to find the best acts that were available at that time, and his effort produced some of the finest shows Moslem Shrine Circus ever had. A deep and lasting friendship was formed between Hal and Tommy Hannaford, one of the finest Circus producers of that time. These were truly the golden years for Moslem Temple's Shrine Circuses.
In his later years Hal and Bea would travel all over the world, collecting art and other things of beauty. He is gone and we will miss himBrother Harold "Hal" Haering passed away on March 10th 2013.
